Roku warns of unauthorized access to hundreds of its customers' accounts

An IP address is a special numerical combination assigned to an internet-connected device to be identified on the network. All intelligent devices need an IP address to access the Internet and interact on the network. Each device connected to the Internet has its own an individual IP address. When we access the Internet, the servers recognize our device through its IP address, allowing the two-way communication with the recipient. As we are identified with our IP address, the rest of devices can order a return response, without mistake the sender. Making a simile, an IP address would be the address that we use to write on the back of an envelope. This information identifies us as issuers and also as recipients of the return answer. To make possible this data exchange, the IP protocol was established as a set of universal rules for all the Internet operations. That means that all devices connected to Internet or to a home network, "speak" the same language and they are able to communicate each with the others. How to locate an IP address? If you want to know how to find out where an IP address is from, you should know that it is not always easy to find out the IP origin of a connection, because there are different systems to hide the IP. Some users use these systems for security reasons or to simulate, for example, their IP location in another place and thus have access to Internet services not enabled in the place where they are located. This new communication solution works as a window in which you can make eye contact with another person, who appears in 3D and real size , allowing two participants to feel as if they were together, in the same space, despite the distance. To achieve this, Starline works with two structures in parallel, the first formed by a screen with cameras, speakers, lighting microphones and the computer where, they have explained, the other person is represented. The secod structure has a rear unit with infrared feedback, where the user is located. So far, Starlie prototypes have been tested in some Google offices in the United States and now, it has been announced that they will also begin testing in other technology partner companies such T-Mobile, Hackensack Meridian Health or Salesforce.

The Spanish, the European citizens who know more about metaverse and virtual reality
27/06/2022The Spanish are the European citizens who most claim to know what the metaverse, virtual reality and augmented reality are. In fact, the results of the report presented by Ipsos in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, ensure that this knowledge would be not only above the European average, also the worldwide. Thus, 63% of Spaniards say they know the metaverse, compared to 52% of the world population, 30% of germans or 28% of France citizens. At the other extreme we find Turkey (86%), India (80%), China (73%) and South Korea (71%), which are presented as the countries with the largest population knowledgeable about the metaverse. "The results of this research work give a very optimistic view of the potential of the metaverse and show that many people are open to the technological change that is taking place," says Jame Ferrand-Gutiérrez, head of Data Intelligence at Ipsos in Spain. The director, however, points out that “we cannot ignore that the metaverse is still a concept that has not been fully realized […] Although it is planned as a parallel reality where everything has a place, in reality it is not. Well, at least at present. We will see in the future where it evolves". About the augmented and virtual reality, 77% of Spaniards say they know the first one well, and 85% the second, being, once again, Turkey, the country in the world where the percentages of familiarity with these technologies are more high, 94%. Google Maps will use AI to update store hours
14/04/2022Google Maps will update the hours of more than 20 million businesses around the world in the next six months. To do this, they will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a self-developed machine learning model, which identifies shop hours that are not updated. Through this system, the AI will update the hours according to itsel predictions based on parameters such the last update of the shop's profile, the hours of nearby stores and the busiest hours in that location. In addition, the algorithm will take datas from Google Business, information from the store's website, if it has one, and images from Street View. In some countries, Google will also use Google Duplex conversational AI technology to make calls with the quality of a human voice to the stores and confirm their opening hours. In this list of countries, France will be the only European country where the telephone verification will be carried out. The rest of the countries are Argentina, Australia, Chile, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru and the United States.

5G Automotive Association tests real-time safety notifications for vehicles and pedestrians

The innovation is based on real-time safety notifications for vehicles and pedestrians using high-speed 5G mobile technology and multi-access computing, so the car can communicate its position to nearby infrastructure to alert pedestrians and other vehicles, as well as receive emergency notifications from the mobile network. The 5GAA connected car concept uses fixed on-site cameras and sensors to collect detailed data. This information is a plus for what the vehicle can “see” using its on-board systems. With a high-speed 5G mobile connection, the system can quickly make decisions where the data is collected, for example in a pedestrian crossing, to communicate safety risks to oncoming pedestrians and vehicles. Starlink Satellite Internet service multiplies their speed

Andalusia becomes the mecca of 5G in Europe

According to the report by the IT security company, Spain has received 9.55% of the world's total of this type of attack during the months of July, August and September, which means an increase of one point compared to the previous quarter. In the ranking of countries that receive most “spam”, Spain is followed by Russia, with 6.52% of attacks, Italy with 5.47%, Brazil with 5.37% and Mexico with 4. 69%. Google accepts the challenge of bringing the Internet to all of Africa
29/10/2021Google has just announced that it's going to invest a billion dollars in improving the internet infrastructure in Africa through the American technology company Alphabet Inc. The project has the ambitious objective of increasing the Internet capacity in Africa 20 times, reducing the average connection price on the continent and increasing the Internet speed five times in this territory, where countries as Ethiopia or Malawi have an average connection below 0.5 megabits/ second. To complet this objectives, Google hopes to have its Equiano submarine cable ready by the end of this year. This cable has been deployed since 2019 and will connect Europe and Africa, contributing then to a considerable improvement in the current infrastructure of Africa. The “African digital transformation” project as it has been described by Google and Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai has a budget of 1 billion dolars, and incorporates a 50 million dolars, 40 million of which for non-profit organizations that works improving the standard of living in Africa, and the remaining 10 million for low-interest loans aimed at tech startups in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

Google tests parcel delivery drones from shop's roofs
18/10/2021Google is testing a new drone product delivery system in Australia, with launch platforms from the store's roofs. To carry out the test, Google have the collaboration of the Vicinity’s shopping centres. Their customers can buy their products online and a drone waiting on the store's roof will take the items to the delivery address. In addition, Google tests the same take-off system from the store itself and not from the distribution centres, in Logan, United States, where more than 2,500 deliveries have already been made successfully with this system. As a curiosity and according to these results, the most demanded products by this system are teas, shakes, sushi and food. Google ads a quick delete button to erase your recent search history
19/07/2021Google has just announced the addition of a quick delete browsing history feature in Chrome. This feature will save users from going to settings to delete the last visits done and with the intention of protection of personal data and privacy. The button is located in Chrome's main menu where you can access through the image of your Gmail account avatar. By clicking on the "Clear last 15 minutes" button, all searches performed in that period will disappear. In addition to this sort of "panic button" for quick deletion, Google also has an "auto-delete" feature, which we can configure to automatically and continuously delete our search history, along with other web and application activity, from our account after three, 18 or 36 months. By default, for new accounts the default automatic deletion option for web and app activity will be 18 months, but you can always choose to update your settings if you wish.
